Due to the COVID19 pandemic many external competitions were either cancelled or became PDI only via zoom.
The images used by the club were chosen by a selection panel of 8 members made of up committee and non committee members. The entries were chosen from images that have been successful in club competitions over the preceding eighteen months.
Competitions
Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB) – National Print Championship October 20 – cancelled. To be rescheduled, date in October 2021 to be advised.
Staffordshire Clubs PDI competition November 2020 – cancelled
MIDPHOT – February 2021 -This was PDI only due to COVID restrictions
9 Club members entered this year which was 2 less than last. We had 5 awards down 3 on last year and 68 acceptances 8 more than last year.
Graham Argent had 15 acceptances
The Temptress ” was awarded a MCPF Ribbons “The Preacher “was Highly Commended
Anna Warrington had 14 acceptances, “Jay Squabble ” was awarded a MCPF Medal
Tessa Bramall got 12 acceptances, “Great Crested Grebe with Four Chicks in the Drizzle “was Highly Commended.
Angie Tucker got 7 acceptances.
Steve Banner got 6 acceptances, “Early Morning Hare ” was awarded a MCPF Ribbons
Barry Greasley got 5 acceptances
Brian Dicks got 4 acceptances
Steve Laycock got 3 acceptances
Judi Dicks got 2 acceptances
Cannock – 4th February 2021
Happily the Cannock/Stafford battle took place on Feb 4th -PDI only. Cannock were overall winners beating us by four points. We had a strong class 1 entry but struggled to pull an entry together for class two.Full details were posted on the club Facebook page and website.
Wolverhampton – 9th March 2021
This was hosted by Wolverhampton and was PDI only.This competition is classless and we submitted 30 entries covering both our classes. All the images chosen are on the clubs Facebook page. It was a good evening and a close result with Stafford taking the top spot. Another battle for next year has been agreed.
GB CUP – PDI – judged March 2021
In the Open section we came joint 37th out of 120 on 139 points and we were the 5th MCPF club behind Smethwick who were the overall winners on 161 points, Arden 152, Leamington Spa 144 and Cheltenham 141
In the nature section we came a very good 14th out of 104 nationwide clubs on a 143 points. We were the best performing club in the MCPF, Smethwick being our nearest rivals on 140.The winners were Rolls Royce Derby on 162.
MCPF annual print & PDI competition – April 2021 – cancelled
PHOTOFOLIO 2021
Photofolio is a competition for Midlands clubs and was PDI only this year. There were three classes, Colour, Mono and Nature with 15 entries in each.
We had mixed results
Mono – 5 acceptances placing us 17 out of 32 clubs. The winning club was Smethwick PS.
Colour – 10 acceptances placing us joint 6th out of 33 clubs. The winning club was Smethwick PS.
The Icing on the cake was Nature where we came 1st out of 44 clubs, ten points clear of Smethwick who were runners up. We also got 6 awards as follows.
Tessa – 2 Highly commended – Spider with egg sac and Gt crested Grebe chick taking damselfly from parent
Steve B -Highly commended – Early morning hare Joe Banton – MCPF Medal – Grass snake on a lake
Anna W – Highly commended – European bison in Autumn habitat and selectors medal for Jay squabble no.2
